On the horizon, the year unfolds, divided into four seasons, which pass in order along with the days. Human life has the same phases as the year: we are born in winter, and at birth, the goddess Nerith bestows upon us a soul. During the spring of life, we grow, culminating in summer when procreation occurs. It is also when the crops sprout, offering their golden ears of grain. Then autumn arrives with old age.
